The Laboratory of Internet and Cloud Computing is one of the research labs of Department of Informatics & Computer Engineering of the University of West Attica. Started its operation in 2019 (Government Gazette 737, Issue B) with the aim of serving educational and research needs in the field of design and development of information infrastructures and systems as well as the implementation of applications and services for computing cloud. The workshop covers topics such as:
- Design and development of network applications and services, which concern the development of software and hardware in computer and telecommunications networks.
- Analysis and design of network communication protocols and implementation of interoperability for the exchange of information between computer systems and interconnected sensors and electronic devices.
- Design and implementation of advanced data storage and hosting infrastructures for websites and services.
- Process automation, operation monitoring, data flow collection and processing, visual representation and analysis of information with statistical methods and machine learning algorithms.
- IT infrastructures and applications for the continuous transmission and sharing of data and multimedia content in real time.
- Design and manufacture of advanced networked multimedia applications, computer games, virtual and augmented reality applications, implementation of interfaces and services that integrate machine learning techniques and algorithms.
- Design and implementation of the security as well as the high availability of information infrastructures and network services.
- Allocation of computing resources and virtual IT infrastructures.
- Design and implementation of infrastructure and content for the support of distance learning with synchronous and asynchronous methods.
- Conducting surveys to measure the reliability and quality of web applications and services.
- Techno-economic studies and evaluation of investments in cloud projects and applications.
- Transfer of know-how and provision of scientific and technological support to the bodies of the Greek Public and Productive Sector (Enterprises, Municipalities, Foundations and Organizations), for the development and operation of innovative information network infrastructures and services, either in the private environment of the company/organization or in the public cloud computing or in digital networks of smart cities.
